Terms of Service for Customers

Welcome, Customers! 

Thanks for choosing Sunshine’s Handy Helpers Marketplace to find Helpers for your household chores and other needs. These Terms of Service (“ToS”) explain how our platform works and your responsibilities. “We,” “us,” or “our” means Sunshine’s Handy Helpers Marketplace, and “you” means you, the Customer.

1. How It Works 

We’re a marketplace connecting you with independent Helpers. We don’t employ them—they’re self-employed individuals you hire through us. You pick the Helper, agree on the job, and pay through our platform.

2. Payments 

You pay upfront via Stripe Connect for each job. We take a small platform fee to keep things running, and the rest goes to the Helper (minus Stripe fees). All payments are final unless a refund is approved under Section 4.

3. Reviewing Work 

Helpers will upload photos of completed work within 2 hours of finishing. You have 24 hours from then to approve the job or report a problem via the platform. No response within 24 hours means you accept the work as satisfactory. Please make sure to leave a rating and a review! This helps others by learning through your experiences and the feedback helps guide the Helpers too!

4. Refunds & Disputes 

If the work isn’t up to snuff, tell us within 24 hours. No funds are transferred for 7 days of job completion so please file any disputes within this time frame for the Helper to respond to. If you don’t get a satisfactory response, we will step in and decide if it’s warranted (e.g., based on photos, your feedback, Helper response and info in your chat if needed). Refunds or Warranty, if approved, come from us or the Helper’s payout. Please be sure to raise any disputes directly with us/your Helper and not your bank — that could lead to extra fees or account suspension.

5. Your Responsibilities 

– Provide clear job details and access to your space. 

– Reach out to your Helper prior-to booking if you’re unsure how much time you need to book.

– Pay fairly—no haggling after the fact. 

– Don’t hire Helpers off-platform if you meet them here or your account will be suspended and theirs too.

– You’re liable for any issues caused by your instructions or property (e.g., a Helper trips over your clutter).

6. Liability 

We’re not responsible for Helpers’ work, damages, or behavior—they’re independent, not our employees. You can’t sue us for what they do (or don’t do). If something goes wrong, take it up with the Helper directly. We’re just the matchmaker but will step in to mediate if needed!

7. Platform Rules 

– No abuse, fraud, or fake bookings. 

– No harassing the Helpers!

– Keep your account info honest. 

We can suspend or ban you for breaking these rules or misusing the platform.

8. Chargebacks 

If you dispute a payment with your bank instead of us and it’s reversed, you will owe us any fees or losses we incur. We may pursue you to recover them.

9. No Warranties 

The platform’s “as is.” We don’t promise perfect service or glitch-free tech. Use us at your own risk—we’re not liable for disappointments but will do our best to make sure you have a stellar experience!

10. Changes & Termination 

We can tweak this ToS (we’ll let you know). You can stop using us anytime, but ongoing jobs or disputes still apply. We can cut you off if you violate these terms.

11. Communications Consent

By using Sunshine’s Handy Helpers Marketplace, you consent to receive emails related to your transactions, platform updates, and service-related communications. We may also send you marketing messages. You can opt-out of marketing emails anytime, but we will continue sending essential account-related messages.
